So here we are in the last few days of 2012 and as we celebrate with family and friends and reflect on the year that we have had, we often begin to think about the new year ahead. Having ideas and making promises about how we might live and love is such a common theme at this time of year, and here are just a few ideas for making those changes or achieving that sense of wellbeing and balance you are looking for.
1. Learn Reiki
Reiki is a personal development and self-healing system with energy mediations and methods that help individuals achieve a sense of personal balance, health and wellbeing.
The First Degree Reiki course is a one-day workshop supported by a thorough studybook and two CDs. The course includes traditional Japanese 'empowerments' that are believed to attune you with the life-force energy that is around all of us, allowing you to tap into this energy to benefit your physical, emotional and spiritual self aspects.
The course is just £125 and takes place in Skipton, North Yorkshire. Click here for dates and more information
2. Begin Tapping with EFT
EFT or 'tapping' is a talking therapy that works with the meridian energy system, the same system as acupressure and acupuncture.
EFT has a remarkable track record of treating phobias, ceasing unwanted and resolving pain. It can also reduce emotions that are attached to certain memories and experiences by literally 'tapping' them out of our energy systems, leaving our memory intact, but without those gut-wrenching feelings we recognise in our physiology when we 'go there'.
EFT is a great way to start the year and can really support any New Year Resolutions you set yourself, including aiding weight loss through removing our attachments to those 'guilty pleasure' food and drinks… Read more here…
3. Have a Course of Reflexology
Reflexology is a double treat for the feet – not only is it a very enjoyable and relaxing treatment, but it also works through the reflexes on the feet to help our entire physical and emotional selves achieve and maintain balance and wellness, and increases the effectiveness of our immune system.
A typical course of Reflexology includes six treatments over a 12 week period and as the impact is cumulative, this can be a wonderful way to support ourselves through the first three months of the year. Six treatments at Craven Clinic in Skipton costs just £200 when booked as a course. Find out more…
4. Volunteer some Time
If you really want to achieve that sense of purpose and contribution that is so important to our emotional health, think about how you might be able to give some of your time and skills to a worthy cause. There are so many enjoyable and important ways that you could volunteer, using some of what you know and love from your working life, family life, hobbies and interests or personal life.
How about walking a dog for the RSPCA? Help isolated older people get to grips with technology? Or how about taking a volunteering holiday and combine your contribution with travelling to somewhere you haven't been before. It's all out there you know… Visit www.do-it.org.uk and see what there is for you.
5. Organise some Workplace Massage
Do you ever get that feeling of tensions and knotted muscles in your back, shoulders and neck when you are at work? A seated acupressure massage is excellent for relieving stress and helping muscles loosen up. It can helps with backache, repetitive strain injury, headaches and migraines, toothache, fatigue, anxiety, irritability and insomnia.
Seated acupressure massage is ideal for on-site workplace massage – the chair can be set up in any quiet room or area. As the client remains clothed during the massage and an effective treatment taking as little as 20 minutes, this is an ideal treat, incentive or workplace well-being activity – and a little bit of luxury too!
