EFT for panic attacks

Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is a powerful technique that is based on research that recognised how emotional trauma contributes to ill-health and disease.  Clinical trials have shown how EFT is able to decrease the emotional impact of the incidents and memories that can trigger emotional distress, and as this distress is removed or reduced, the body is often able to achieve balance and accelerate healing.  In fact, over 20 clinical trials published in peer-reviewed medical and psychological journals have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, pain and other problems (1).

A recent example here at The Yorkshire Therapy Company has been the use of EFT with a client who has suffered from panic attacks for a number of years.  These panic attacks had become so intense that they were beginning to impact on day to day life, causing stress, embarassment and unhappiness.  After three EFT appointments our client felt that the occurance of these attacks had reduced significantly, and most importantly, he now has a technique to use 'in the moment', during any early signs of a panic attack, stopping them in their track.  How empowering this has been.  We also explored the route cause of these panic attacks, and through ongoing counselling with a trusted colleague, this work is continuing.
